The Blessings You’re Missing While Waiting on the Big One
If you think that every blessing you pray for is supposed to be visible, you’re going to be disappointed.
We tend to pray very specifically. We ask God for the thing. The job offer. The salary. The stability, and when that exact thing doesn’t show up right away, it can feel like nothing is happening at all, like our prayers are just floating in the air.
But a lot of times, God isn’t silent. He’s just not loud.
Think about praying for a job offer. What you’re really waiting on is the email, the call, the start date. That’s the moment you’re counting. That’s what you’ve attached the blessing to.
Meanwhile, God might be moving in ways that don’t feel exciting at all.
Your resume finally gets seen after months of nothing.
A recruiter reaches out when you were ready to stop applying.
You make it past an interview round you usually don’t.
You get feedback that sharpens how you show up.
You realize what kind of role you don’t want anymore.
A door closes that would’ve drained you.
A company rejects you and later you see they’re laying people off or restructuring.
Those are blessings too, even if they don’t feel like it in the moment.
Sometimes God doesn’t give you the offer right away because He’s doing something in you first. He’s building discernment so you don’t jump at the first yes. He’s strengthening your confidence. He’s protecting you from environments you prayed to leave years later. He’s teaching you patience and trust when things aren’t moving on your timeline.
That waiting season isn’t wasted. It’s not punishment. It’s preparation.
It’s God asking, Can you see Me working even when it doesn’t look like what you asked for? Can you acknowledge progress, not just outcomes?
The big blessing you’re praying for usually requires growth that happens in the in-between.
So if you’re still waiting, pay attention to the small wins. The callbacks. The clarity. The peace. The closed doors that quietly saved you.
The blessing isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s subtle, steady, and shaping you long before it arrives.
BUT when that big blessing finally shows up, you’ll realize it didn’t come out of nowhere. It was being built the whole time—you just didn’t recognize it yet.
